ANDREA CANZANO
Andrea is an ecologist and environmental planner and has a background in insect conservation and habitat management. Her Honours thesis studied the ecophysiology of two tropical butterflies to understand how they responded to changes in tropical seasons. Andrea has worked as a consultant zoologist in the private sector and as a biodiversity officer in local government. She also led the endangered Eltham Copper Butterfly Monitoring program for ten years and contributed to an understanding of population dynamics and habitat management of colonies throughout Victoria.
Andrea has a keen interest in butterflies (and invertebrates in general) and uses her experience in biodiversity planning, education, community engagement and volunteer work. Previously she was an instructor on the Box and Ironbark Ecology Course and Darebin's Habitat Conservation & Management Course, which focused on insect ecology and biology, and provided case studies of butterfly conservation.
Andrea is excited to be involved with MABA and hopes to contribute her skillset to motivate the community to be passionate about lepidoptera.
